Good landscapes are drawn before they’re dug.

A CMS design starts with the property in front of us. We handle Cape Cod landscape design from first concept to completed master plan: gardens, outdoor living, lighting, and irrigation. We’ve been at it since Chris Mark founded the company in 1973.

Designed for the Way You Live

Some clients want a quiet garden to read in. Some want a backyard for kids and pets to play and run free. Some are planning for a summer of entertaining. We design for how the property will actually be used, down to the plant selection and the stone layout.

Salt, Wind, and Sandy Soil

Cape Cod landscape design has to answer to harsh soil conditions, salt exposure, high winds, and drainage sensitivities. We specialize in coastal properties, and whether your home is in Falmouth, Sandwich, Osterville, or anywhere on the Upper and Mid-Cape, the plan is drawn for its ground.

One Company, Start to Finish

With CMS, design doesn’t end on paper. Our in-house crews install the custom designs we draw (see landscape construction) and keep it alive afterward (see estate and garden care).

Questions We Hear About Landscape Design

What’s actually in a landscape design?

A planting plan for one garden and a master plan for the whole property are both landscape designs; most projects land somewhere in between, and the scope is set by what the property calls for.

Do you redesign existing landscapes, or only design from scratch?

Both. Some projects start with bare ground; many begin with a landscape that has grown tired or no longer fits how the house is used. Either way we look at what’s there, keep what still works, and plan the rest.

Do you build what you design?

Yes. The plan is drawn knowing who has to build it; design, construction, and upkeep is our expertise.

How much does landscape design cost on Cape Cod?

Scope sets the fee: a garden refresh and a full-property master plan are different projects. The proposal spells it out.
